Tourism, environment and development questions.

Pro-poor Tourism is set up in developing countries as a means to improve the local economy for local people. Despite the principles brought forward on how to practice it effectively for the benefit of local people, still the developers fail. According to Chok, Macbeth and Warren (2007), globally, there is a lack of convincing  empirical evidence to support the claim that tourism benefits the poor.

In reality , the problems of tourism on the environment cannot be sidestepped, they live and grow with tourism. As a tourism manager, discuss two(2) land use planning measures that can be applied on managing the challenges that tourism can bring on the environment.

2. Experts in natural resource management believes that tourism can help in bringing sustainable development. With examples, argue on this claim.

With vivid examples , explain how ecotourism cancontribute in environmental conservation and poverty alleviation.

Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere was once quoted saying: “I personally am not interested in animals. I do not want to spend my holidays watching crocodiles. Nevertheless, I am entirely in favour of their survival. I believe that after diamongs and sisal, wild animals will provide Tanganyika with its greatest source of income. Thousands of Americans and Europeans have the strange urge to see these animals” (Source : Nyerere 1961).
