1. This paper consists of sections A, B and C with a total of ten (10) questions.
2. Answer five (5) questions, choosing two (2) questions from each of sections A and B and one (1) question from section C.
3. Each question carries twenty (20) marks
4. Cellular phones and any unauthorised materials are not allowed in the examination room.
5. Write your Examination Number on every page of your answer booklet(s).
SECTION A (40 Marks)
Answer two (2) questions from this section.
- Analyse six challenges of pre-colonial African education.
- In six points, assess the achievements of pre-colonial African technology.
- Explain six factors that enabled the Europeans to discover the New World in the 15 th century.
- Agriculture was the backbone of the colonial economy. Justify this statement by giving six points.
SECTION B (40 Marks)
Answer two (2) questions from this section.
- Examine six features of colonial education.
- With vivid examples from Tanganyika, describe two agricultural schemes which aimed at controlling soil erosion and examine three achievements of agricultural schemes which were undertaken in the colonies after 1945.
- Identify six European economic exploitations in Africa which rose people’s desire to terminate colonial rule after the Second World War.
- In six points, analyse external factors that contributed to the rise of Nationalism and the struggle for independence in Tanganyika.
SECTION C (20 Marks)
Answer one (1) questions from this section.
- Evaluate the successes of the Arusha Declaration Programmes.
- With examples, examine the impact of economic crisis of 1980s in Tanzania.
