“The Earth is said to be spherical in nature.” With the aid of the diagrams, justify this statement by using six points.

The Earth is said to be spherical in nature due to the following facts:

1. Aerial photographs: Photographs taken by satelites far awya from the earth shows that the earth`s surface is curved.
2. Circumnavigation of the earth: If one travels across the world along a straight path in a very fast moving plane without stopping  will end up at the point where started.
3. Earth`s Curved horizon: The horizon of the earth when observed from a high altitude for example plane or a ship appears to be curved.
4. Sunrise and sunset: As the earth rotates from west to east , people on the east part see the sun before people on the west , this shows that the earth is not flat, but spherical.
5. Lunar eclipse: During lunar eclipse the shape of the earth`s shadow on the moon is always round (Circular).
6. Ships` visibility: When observing a ship approaching the coast land , the first thing seen at the horizon is smoke then when is more closer the chimney starts to appear, and when the ship is more closer the observer sees the whole ship. This suggest that the surface of the earth is not flat.
